


I don’t take issue with it being cut now, but I don’t think Jeff Kaplan’s response is terribly helpful either. If I were working on the animation team, I probably would have cut this pose before it made it into the game for that reason. I would agree with the statement that this kind of pose is not really in keeping with what’s been presented as Tracer’s character, so far. It’s interesting that the original poster themselves brings up a point where they wouldn’t necessarily take issue with a pose like this for a character whose sexuality is more overt to begin with (Widowmaker actually has this exact same pose, which isn't getting removed). And you simply can’t say that for many female characters across media, this is not a traditionally sexualized pose. And yet, it’s pretty clear that in Tracer's case her bright, skin-tight pants obviously do call attention to one specific part of the body. They point to other characters in the game that have similar victory poses. One of the arguments for the pose is that just because a character is rear-facing, that shouldn’t mean it’s automatically sexual. But fine, let’s go with this, and analyze both sides.
